NYE Cardboard Creations FOX 8 News
The week before the New Year is always a fun and busy week at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Akron for me. It usually entails me waking up between two and three in the morning the day after Christmas (or a day or two later) and heading over to see my friends at FOX 8 News, and I absolutely love it. Since 2016 our Akron Franchise has been invited on to talk all things New Years Eve and cardboard, two of my favorite things- parties and decorations.
Every year is a different theme, the above is from my 2019 Masquerade theme, one of my favorites. I have done everything from classic New Years Eve, Rockin' in the City and Roaring 20's. Below are some of my highlights from past themes. Everything you see below was created from our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Akron moving boxes.
Classic New Years
The first theme was just simple a New Years Eve party, with a photo booth, props and of course decorations. With a classic color scheme of gold, white and pink, everything popped and sparkled- exactly what you want on NYE. This was the simplest one to create if you are doing this theme yourself.
Rockin' in the City
The theme this year was based all around a trip to NYC for the iconic Ball Drop party in Time Square. This was a fun one, the black buildings with the bright sparking windows really made the city pop. It's layered look added depth to it as well. The Ball Drop clock frame was a fun one as well. The battery powered lights inside really sold it, a great frame for that midnight couples kiss too. The moving clock necklace gave off some surprising Flavor Flav vibes (not my intention 😂).
Another thing I always incorporate into each cardboard creation, is an instruction guide for everything I've created. Below is one of the custom fringe chandeliers created for the Rockin' in the City theme and its instructions. If you would like a copy of any of the instructions from creations shown here or anywhere else on my site please get in contact with me. 📦📦📦
Masquerade
My favorite theme was the Masquerade theme. I created custom masks, handheld and tied, headbands, a photo booth, paper lanterns and party poppers. Big Phantom of the Opera vibes. The giant mask photo booth is perhaps the most intricate backdrop I've ever created. The mask itself was made out of a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Akron wardrobe moving box, and then spray painted black. Each gold and red color was measured and cut from wrapping paper.
Cleaning up confetti from my custom confetti poppers is always fun post segment too 😂🎉
